Senior Associate
John is happily married to Beryle, a former nurse. John and his wife Beryle grew up in Woodstock. She works in various volunteer activities in London, primarily in health-related functions. Their oldest daughter resides in Kitchener. She and her husband are the proud parents of Evan and Bethany. John and Beryle love to spend time with their cute grandchildren! John and Beryle's younger daughter, Heather, went to Higher Pursuits at age 6, having suffered from cystic fibrosis.
John enjoys reading good books, photography, golf and working out at the gym. He is an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays, for better or for worse. He admits that newspapers have a special morning attraction for him. John is also actively involved with church life and volunteers his spare time at a Detention Centre for Youth.
After graduating from The University of Western Ontario in 1968, John articled and became a Chartered Accountant with Clarkson Gordon, Canada's largest accounting firm at the time. During his tenure, he managed clients such as Avco Financial Services and The University of Western Ontario. Subsequently, John was Director of Accounting at Commonwealth Holiday Inns of Canada Limited and Scott's Hospitality Inc., a publicly-traded company until 1996. John joined our team at ScotiaMcLeod in 2000 after three years with a financial planning firm servicing physicians and their families.
John is the author of the Kelland Wealth Management Group Newsletters and offers his expertise in the areas of taxation, estate planning and insurance to our clients. He is fully licensed in securities and insurance and holds the prestigious Chartered Accountant designation.
