Model Portfolio

The Kelland Portfolio Management Group Model Portfolio is an actual investment portfolio that was launched with an initial deposit of $250,000 on January 1, 2009. No further deposits have been added to the account. The current value is $643,087 at December 31, 2017.

Specifically, the Model Portfolio focuses on high quality, blue chip investment selections, including common shares, bonds and preferred shares. Over the nine years, ending December 31, 2017, the Model Portfolio experienced a 11.07% annualized return.

The portfolio incurs a reasonable management fee that is similar to that of our typical Managed Portfolios or discretionary portfolios. This fee is much lower than a mutual fund and is tax deductible in non-registered portfolios. Our goal with respect to this portfolio is to target an annualized return that is superior to GICs over the long term.

We do not measure the performance of this account against any particular indexes or benchmarks. It is simply a “common sense” portfolio that is broadly and prudently diversified. The portfolio is quite indicative of many of our clients’ portfolios in terms of how we invest, by diversifying amongst sectors and asset classes. Depending upon the economic climate we could have a larger or smaller percentage in equities, bonds and cash. The overall dividend yield is 2.70%.

Our overall investment objective is to grow capital conservatively over the long term, and to provide high degrees of both diversification and liquidity. With all client portfolios, our goal is to provide superior service, advice and professionalism, all at a fee that is lower than the industry norm.

In summary, the Kelland Portfolio Management Group Model Portfolio is a high quality portfolio with competitive fees, coupled with our Team’s 32+ year history of excellent service and advice. To learn more about the Model Portfolio, please contact us.
